Bierzo
Bierzo (Spain)
description: D.O. (denominación de origen ) El Bierzo is the winegrowing area in Kastília, rather in the eastern edge of this region. The area under viticulture is about 3 400 hectares, but many of the vineyards are abandoned. The average altitude of the vineyards is between 500 and 700 metres. The climate makes wines from Bierzo completely different then the other wines from Kastília. The reds are fruit driven, komplex with silky texture made almost from original Mencía variety. The white wines are made from Dona Blanca, Godello, Malvasia and Palomino grapes
