The area of production of the Denominacion de Origen ‘Jerez-Xerez-Sherry & Manzanilla-Sanlucar de Barrameda’ is between the towns of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar de Barrameda.
Sherry can only be made from grapes harvested within this area.
Jerez is on the tip of South Western Europe. The predominant soil in the Jerez-Sherry region is called ‘Albariza’, (alba is Latin for white). Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximenez and Moscatel are the only grapes aloved within this region.
